Is it possible to send silent push notifications with Intercom?

Hello!

We are using push notifications with Intercom to notify users of important events in our app.

We’d like to know if Intercom supports silent push notifications for iOS & Android i.e. push notifications that we send to our apps that do not display any alerts/sounds, but are just used from our apps, to do actions such as reloading UI elements.

Thank you.

Hi @Pavlos Kosmetatos 👋 -- Cam from the Support Engineering team!

At present we don't support silent push notifications for iOS or Android - push notifications can only be sent for specific outbound and/or conversation messages or content.

Hope that at least helps clarify whats possible 😁

Is this something that could be reconsidered? Having ability to trigger some actions by utilizing silent push would be quite handy. The use case we have in mind is related to sending diagnostic logs while customer support is troubleshooting the issue. Being able to send silent push that triggers this action would help us streamline the process.
