Will a migration be required ?

When will it be possible to change the hosting to Europe for existing customers ?

Hey @barrie Racheal from the Support Engineer team here👋

If you would like to have your data processed in-region when being handled by Intercom, you can opt to move to a new regional workspace. These function in almost the exact same way as your current workspace, the one exception is that there are a few apps and integrations that are not yet available, you can see the full list here.

If you think you might want to move to a new regional workspace, the main thing to consider is what you would need to migrate over from your current workspace. If you want to replicate what you have set up, you’ll need to migrate your custom data as well as your product configuration:

Examples of custom data include:

  • Contacts
  • Company data
  • Custom data attributes
  • Events
  • Tags

Migrating settings and configuration will vary depending on your instance of Intercom, but examples include:

  • Outbound message / Series Configuration
  • Bots and automation
  • Admin Permissions
  • Assignment Rules
  • Teams and Inboxes

The process of migrating is quite manual, so we encourage you to think about how much time you’ll be able to dedicate, and who on your team could manage the process. I’ll also add that some of our customers have used this as an opportunity to “refresh” their Intercom instance, cleaning up outdated data and messages, etc. and re-implement Intercom with a new perspective.
