We want to export full extracts of our conversations from our workspace - how can I do this?

Using our Conversations API to extract full conversations. You'd first have to list the conversations, and then use GET for individual conversation ID's.

You can't do this through the UI - only through the API.

Hi @Shauna O12 β€‹

You can export full extracts of your conversations using either Intercom's native options or the Help Desk Migration app.

Here’s how each works:

Using Intercom
You can request a full workspace export directly from Intercom. Intercom supports several native options like:

  1. Download an individual conversation via Export conversation
  2. Downlaod conversations in bulk via the API
  3. Export conversation data to CSV: Reports > Data export.
  4. Export as JSON to Amazob S3

Note

  • The data may require additional formatting if you're planning to use it elsewhere.
  • You can export conversations from the past 2 years to a CSV file.
  • Exporting to JSON offers historical and periodic export options.

Using Help Desk Migration
If you need a structured export for analysis or platform transfer, Help Desk Migration can help:

  1. Sign in to the Migration Wizard and choose Intercom as the source.
  2. Select the workspace from which you want to transfer your records.
  3. Choose a specific help desk to CSV where to export your conversations
  4. Configure the export settings based on what data you need (tickets, conversations, agents, contacts, attachments, tags, etc.).
  5. Run a free demo to preview how your data will look after export.

Tips to consider:

  • Skip attachments if you don't need them.
  • Add any tags to migrated conversations to sort them out in a target platform.
  • Choose to import your newest records in a chronological order, from most recent to oldest.

For a full extract, just let the support team know you're looking to export all conversations from your Intercom workspace. They'll guide you through the next steps.

It would be super helpful to be able to bulk download conversations, as opposed to by one by one...
