Hi, I am very new to Intercom and so far, so good. However, I'm having to use it via a tab in my Safari browser on desktop, whereas its an app on my iPhone.

The browser version is really hit and miss for giving notifications and I keep missing customers.

I'm used to using apps like Slack on my desktop which make staying in touch really easy. Is there not a way to have Intercom as a stand alone app on my desktop Mac?

Thanks in advance for any help!

Rob

Hi @rob b11 , Intercom don't have a Desktop client.

You can set-up notification in browser, mobile or e-mail.

If you are using Slack, you can integrate Intercom with Slack and answer customers directly from Slack.

Are there any plans to add a desktop app?

It'll be a really great addition.

Drift has a desktop app that is really convenient for people who prefer to use native apps (Slack, etc) rather than clutter the browser.

Unfortunately, notifications don't really help when you're working out of multiple systems and everything sends notifications (and all of differing priorities).

Link above is broken. You can use intercom web app instead of desktop app. check here

Hey guys,

I’m having a similar issue where I am missing customer enquiries. How do I get notified in slack of a new conversation? I only seen a feature for tickets or workflows?

@RaymondValentine you need to install the app and navigate to the Incoming Webhooks section in the Slack dashboard.

  • Enable Webhooks.
  • Add New Webhook to Workspace.
  • Select the channel where you want the notifications to appear and authorize it.
  • Copy the Webhook url generated and you can start it
