I am using a template to send an outbound email. I want to add a QR code. How do I do this?
Hi
You can add a QR code to your outbound email template, but there are some important details to consider:
The most effective way to add a QR code is to insert it as an image. Intercom’s visual email template editor allows you to add images to your email content by clicking the plus icon and selecting the image option. However, you cannot generate a QR code directly within Intercom—you’ll need to create the QR code using an external tool, save it as an image (such as PNG or JPEG), and then upload or link to it in your template.
If you’re using a custom HTML email template, you can also embed the QR code image by hosting it on an image hosting service (like Imgur or Zight) and referencing the image URL in your HTML code. Make sure to use an HTTPS link for the image to ensure it displays correctly in email clients.
Steps to Add a QR Code to Your Email Template
- Generate your QR code using an external QR code generator and save it as an image file.
- In the Intercom visual email template editor, click the plus icon in the content section and select the image option.
- Upload your QR code image or provide the image URL if it’s hosted externally.
- Adjust the image size and alignment as needed.
There are some limitations to this though:
- You cannot generate or customise QR codes directly within Intercom’s template editor.
- Dynamic content (such as QR codes that change per recipient) is not supported in the visual template builder.
If you need more advanced customization, consider editing the HTML of your template and embedding the QR code image there.
