Can macros be exported into a CSV file? | Community
Skip to main content

For training purposes, we would like to export macros into a sheet or a CSV so that new teammates can use a Ctrl-F to find keywords. This would help them find keyword, not just in the macro title, but also the body text , and get up to speed quicker on our common replies. I'm wondering if we'd need to manually create a spreadsheet or if there is a faster way to pull this info from Intercom!

Hey @user140, you'd need to manually create this spreadsheet, as there's not yet a way to export these into a CSV file. One for our @Product Wishlist group for sure!

Was there any update made for this request? We would also like to export body text for macros!

I second this request, it would be extremely useful and macro content exporting is a feature Zendesk has had forever.

Same here. Being able to export macros would be very useful.

We’ve used that feature in Zendesk and are missing it in Intercom

Since I cannot delete my post, I’m just editing it. See my comment just below

@Irene @Chelsea @Bodl @User140 Your macros are all located here: https://app.intercom.com/ember/saved_replies?app_id=abcdef34 - just replace abcdef34 with the app_id that you can see anywhere in your intercom url just after /apps

Note: if you are on EU workspace, then the url would be https://app.eu.intercom.com/ember/saved_replies?app_id=abcdef34
The only thing you need to do out of that content is to parse it and put it in a CSV file for better legibility. This website can definitely do the trick: https://www.convertcsv.com/json-to-csv.htm

@Steeve Cayla You have just saved me hours of work! This is crucial to a new project we’re working on and we were so disappointed it wasn’t a native export from Intercom. 5 points to Gryffindor! 🖐️

If anyone is wondering, just follows Steeve’s directions exactly. It will look terrifying after the first link, but the json-to-csv converter makes it all okay.

Important note: If your macros have multiple paragraphs, there will be a separate entry for each paragraph. Don’t freak out if you only see the opening text. Scroll to the right.😁

Super happy this helped you @Sunny! I believe a lot of people will benefit from this in the future until there is a neat way to export the macros.

Hi,

There’s no direct method I’m aware of to export Intercom macros into a spreadsheet.

However, Help Desk Migration recently added support for migrating macros and triggers for Zendesk, as well as macros and canned responses for Freshdesk. Intercom isn’t supported for this yet, but you can reach out to them and request the feature if it’s still relevant — they may be able to help or consider adding it in the future.
