How to filter side conversations

Hey! I discovered that the Side conversations option allows to send messages to Slack—neat! However, it is not straight forward to later on find the conversations that have side conversations. Any ideas of how this could be done? In short, this is the workflow that we are aiming at:

  1.  When we need to ping someone from the team for a quick question, start side conversation and set message to selected Slack channel (this part is covered)
  2. Then find a way to easily keep track of this conversation (or any conversation that as a side conversation) within Intercom, like using Views or something similar. (This is not done!)

I figured it could be done using Views filters (like when we filter conversations that have tickets, etc.), but I failed to get it working.

Any thoughts, tips or tricks?

Hey @HugoRm

Side conversations (e.g. to Slack) work, but Intercom doesn’t expose a “has side conversation” filter in Inbox Views. The filters you see (e.g. tickets, assignee, tags) are the only ones available; there isn’t a hidden “side conversation” filter to turn on.

To get around this, when you start a side conversation (e.g. to a Slack channel), you could add a tag to the main conversation (e.g. “Side conversation” or “Slack”). Then create a View that filters by that tag. That View will list conversations that you’ve marked as having a side conversation.

Thank you, @Dara K! Appreciate it.

I figured as much. It’s just a pity there isn’t a way to filter for that. I was hoping to reduce manual work—people inevitably forget a step now and then—and use some kind of auto‑tagging whenever a side conversation is created, but it looks like that isn’t possible either.
