How can I add an article to several collections? | Community

Hello everyone!

Had been a little confused while creating articles and collections for my students.

We've got 2 collections like "Methodology helper" and "Assessments", where I want to put the same articles about the process and meaning of assessments. But as I see it, Intercom doesn't allow adding one article to more than one section.

And the possible solution of creating two of the same articles just to put them in different collections looks kind of strange to me, as we can't get the right statistics of the use of this material.

Does anyone know any ways to fix it?

Thank you in advance!

Hey @valeriia, as you're correctly pointed out, it's only possible to add an article to one collection. The only workaround available to you here would be to duplicate the article and add each duplicate to each collection, but that's not an ideal solution in your use case, as you've highlighted.

I'm happy to add your feedback here to our @Product Wishlist group.

Hi, still no update on this? Could really use the feature to add an article to more collections.
Thanks

Hey there Intercom team,

This is a really basic requirement (to be able to add an article to more than one collection). How long will it take to release this functionality please?

Hey @Avida Hancock and @Markus Hinrichs

My names Sean Reid. I’m a manager here at intercoms Customer Support. Apologies for the delayed reply.

Unfortunately this feature is still not available and would need to be registered as a feature request. I can see this had already been done, but rest assured I am going to bump it and hopefully this will push it higher up on the production line.

Massively appreciate your patience here.

@Eric Fitz @Sean Reid  - You mention the workaround of duplicating an article. That sounds great! How do I do that?

Hi there, I keep checking back HOPING that this will be prioritised. I am having to duplicate topics all over the place in order to have them appear in more than one collection. I'm working in 8 languages so this is a big waste of time and money. Please Intercom 🤞

This is such a basic request and it is so important to maintaining a healthy knowledge base when using FIN.

In a recent meeting Intercom pointed out that there is the FIN suggestion tool that should be able to identify duplicates and conflicts in order to help maintain the integrity of all the duplicates that we’ve been forced to create since they won’t give us this one very basic and intuitive feature… problem is that the suggestion tool doesn’t work. In the last or so I have published 20 duplicate articles and this suggestion tool has not yet caught a single one of these duplicates. The tool only makes suggestions once a week so if there is a conflict between two duplicate resources then that will in theory be stuck there as a potential source of confusion for FIN until the suggestion tool catches the problem and surfaces it… that’s in a perfect world where the tool actually works.

When is intercom actually going to address the need to be able to cross post articles between different collections.

@Rosemary Stone I feel your pain, though I suspect yours is worse than mine. 😔 I met with a sales rep, a customer success team member and a relationship manager recently and they honestly don’t understand the burden that not having this tool puts on us. It’s genuinely not understood how much time is lost to having to maintain resources that shouldn’t have to exist in the first place. They don’t seem to appreciate that often maintaining a help centre isn’t the primary function of our jobs, but it eats up a disproportionate and inappropriate amount of time because of these kinds of inefficiencies.
