We have custom bots on our website that are getting spammed bombed from Middle Eastern and Asian countries. Blocking those visitors is not working. I can't set a rule to not show the messenger without affecting the Messenger for valid visitors. Does anyone have experience with this?

You can do the followings:
1) Make some delay before sending a custom bot, Right now it's sending instantly when the visitor opens the web-site.
2) Stop showing bot in these countries;
3) Install web-site security solutions like - Cloudflare (They have a free plan);

We figured out it had to do with our Paid Advertising. We restricted it in the countries where spam was coming from. I also figured out I could restrict those countries/regions through the bot rather than the messenger, which also seemed to do the trick.
