Hi there!

I’m trying to test a use case, but no luck so far, so I wanted o see if any of you tried something similar.

Use case: I need Fin to override the user’s initial inquiry IF Fin detects a Health check issue on the user’s account.

I have the data connector set up, and I added a When/If/then guidance.

So far, this guidance is only triggered if the user asks a direct question about their account health status.

Here’s a screenshot of the rule:

Hi @fatia , Seán here from the Intercom engineering support team 👋

I’ll need a little more information to try and help you on this one.

  1. Where is this guidance being set is it in a Fin Task or how are you triggering the data connector?
  2. I’m not sure what you mean by override the query here? if its a Fin task Fin will choose the best suited for the current query. If this is a workflow where does the guidance come into play?
  3. Can you explain what is being triggered here and how you are expecting the elements to work together?

The guidance in your image doesn’t appear to be from a data connector description because you can’t add attributes to it so looking forward to getting more details on your setup and use case and getting this working as expected!

Hey @Sean M , thanks for the response.

I’m not using a Task, since tasks are still in Beta and not available for us. So I was trying to see if I could do something similar using guidance rules and Data connectors. I know there’s no way to trigger a data connector from within a guidance, but it seems that Fin is triggering this rule when the user’s message is related to the Health check issues that Fin can detect.

But mainly what i wanted to see is if I can instruct Fin to overlook/discard the initial user message and not answer. Instead Fin would first report the detected HC issue and then proceed to handling the user’s initial question.

Hope this is clear. Otherwise, the general question would be: Can we instruct Fin, using guidance, to not answer the user’s initial question from the start and say something else instead?
