Hi,

We've enabled AI Inbox Translations for our support, allowing us to assist more users in their native language. I think this is a great feature that will enhance the user experience. However, transparency is important to us, and we want users to always be aware when AI is involved.

It would be really helpful if there were an indicator showing that a message has been automatically translated into their preferred language, along with an option to view the original message in English.

@Daniel Rönnberg I like this idea in general - can you share what you’ve seen go wrong with this so far, without that note to say that it was automatically translated?

I wouldn’t say that anything has necessarily “gone wrong.” This is more about transparency—if some translations are slightly off, it would be helpful to include a disclaimer informing users that the message has been automatically translated from English to their language, along with an option to view the original text.

It would also be useful since our platform is only available in English and a few other languages. I've noticed that Fin sometimes translates elements that shouldn't be translated, such as section names and button labels, based on the customer's language settings. I've previously raised this issue here. If the same behavior applies to AI Inbox Translations, it could cause confusion—for example, if a user is looking for a button labeled "Bjuda in kollegor" (Swe) but sees "Invite colleagues" instead.

The feature itself was present during alpha, and then got removed for the beta.

I’m not sure if we are talking about the same things here, and maybe I was a bit unclear in my original post. I also believe it would be beneficial for support reps to more easily see when a message has been automatically translated, but in this case, I’m talking about what the users (customers) see. :)

@Daniel Rönnberg Got it, thank you for the explanation. It makes perfect sense as well. The ability for both internal and external users to see clearly that a conversation is being translated for the sake of transparency.

We recently started testing the AI Inbox Translations and our customer-facing teams are very interested in having an indicator added to auto-translated outbound messages — something that makes it clear to the customer that the message was translated by AI.
After testing this for a week, I have noticed significant issues with the wording in French in particular, and smaller issues in other languages that do not affect the context too much. For transparency and safety, it would be very helpful to have a tag added to translated messages. A simple format could look like this:
Hi customer,
I have fixed your issue now.
Have a great day.
Translated by AI from English.

Alternatively, an even better solution would be to display both the original and the translated version for full transparency:
Hallo,
ich habe das Problem behoben. Bitte lassen Sie mich wissen, falls Sie weitere Unterstützung benötigen.
Ich wünsche Ihnen einen schönen Tag.
Translated by AI from English.
Hi customer, I have fixed your issue now. Have a great day.

Please let me know your thoughts on this.
