Dynamic links to Help Center articles inside articles

I’m looking to link to other articles inside articles without having to copy the actual URL of that article. The main issue using the direct URL is that I’ll need to update an article link whenever I adjust the corresponding article title (which is what just happens rather regularly in our case). Also, it is quite time-consuming to find an article URL manually rather than having an easy-to-use article search + linking function within the article I’m currently writing.

This needs a priority bump since the introduction of multiple help centres within a workspace. It’s almost unmanageable to link between articles now.

Even at the very minimum if you could stop it from automatically rewriting URLs when they are input into articles, that would help in the short term?

At present if I was to input a link to an article of “/articles/14623-article-name”, and save it - it would work.

Until someone edits the article in any way, including changing tags etc - at that point it then rewrites the link target from being “/articles/14623-article-name” to being “https://support.domain.com/articles/14623-article-name”.

This becomes a huge problem, as if we have the article on two domains (domain.com and anotherdomain.com), and we inadvertently end up editing an article and triggering them it can result in anotherdomain.com having links to domain.com that open in a new window.

@Jennifer K Could you elaborate when this will be in the product to use, or could you point me towards some information on it?

@Jason L12 With the URL redirects tool, you can redirect traffic from any Help Center URL to any URL hosted in Intercom Articles. You can read all the recent changes to articles here

@Jennifer K  from what I’m reading it doesn’t address the issues either the original poster or myself raised.

Absolutely agree with this. If we create a second help center but have the same article in both, we can’t prevent a user accessing the other help center when clicking on an article link, as that link has the original help center URL in it for the article.

@User356 I believe your case has been resolved here with the move of the public articles to the Knowledge hub. When you go hyperlink any text, the article search will appear. @Nicole Wendler not sure if this helps your use case as the URL itself won’t get updated if the name of the title/domain gets updated.

@Michaela Hone

This absolutely has not been resolved yet.

While this functionality has been added, I have a support ticket open because they haven’t implemented it for custom domains...

Appreciate this specific request hasn’t been resolved @Jason L12 which is why the status is still “submitted” 🙏

This new feature is now live and I’m enjoying the new feature to search and link help center articles directly when editing them, but I am seeing error messages for many existing links that were added manually before the release, when the link leads to a Collection within the help center or a specific heading.

It would be incredibly helpful and efficient if it was possible to use the intercom inter-article link search to link to an entire collection, as well as a specific section of an article (similarly to how you can choose which heading to start at when sending an article from the knowledge base within a support conversation.
