Linking conversation to an existing ticket

Hello,

I'd like to propose an idea that could significantly enhance our user experience and streamline our communication processes. Currently, linking a conversation to a ticket is achievable only by initiating a customer conversation within the ticket.

To improve this, I suggest exploring options for linking conversations to existing tickets, especially in scenarios where users reach out to inquire about updates on tickets that have already been opened. This enhancement would allow us to maintain a more comprehensive and interconnected view of user interactions.

Hello!
This feature would greatly improve our workflow with back-office tickets (linking an existing user BO-ticket to a new convo), and we would greatly appreciate it’s implementation.
Is there an ETA for it, or it’s just planned still? 🙏
Thanks in advance!

Our team would also greatly benefit from this, both when updates are requested or when a customer replies after the conversation/ticket has fully closed and their reply starts a new convo. In those times it would be nice to link to the original ticket. Ideally this would also work across tickets-to-tickets and not just conversations-tickets

Intercom Team, I don't get it.

Via the UI, if we check the query (when doing a manual link with an existing conversation and existing tracker ticket), we had this URL:

POST https://app.intercom.com/ember/inbox/conversations/{conversation_id}/link_ticket?app_id={intercom_workspace_id}

Payload: {ticket_id: <ticket_to_link>, conversation_id: <conversation_to_link>}

We are in 2026. You all have Claude Code or other AI tools. This is an endpoint that already exists on your side. We can't hear anymore "this is in our roadmap" → AI can do that in one shot.

EDIT:

trying to ping @Jennifer K but as this issue is planned more than 2y ago but maybe she is not working here anymore and this topic is dying.

Yup, planned for two years. Hoping for movement soon. 🙏
