It’s great that Intercom filters out SPAM automatically, but I wish there would be more flexibility to control what’s SPAM and what’s not from the side of Intercom clients as well.

We have clients that are being constantly recognized as SPAM even after several time marking their emails as “Not SPAM” - this is creating super huge inconvenience.

So now we have to choose between raising threshold for spam, so that client’s email will go through to inbox, that may lead to actual spam reaching the inbox OR keeping the threshold as it is and constantly checking SPAM folder.

Hi @Svitlana Semenikhina

Jennifer here from Intercom

If you are getting spam type messages, that you would like to close quickly, there are 2 ways how you can achieve this:

1️⃣ By using Macro

This is semi-automatic way, as it still would require a teammate to apply a Macro. You can create a Macro, that would have no content, only actions applied: tag conversation and close it, e.g. 👇

2️⃣ By using a workflow

You can create a workflow with the trigger Customer sends their first message. And within the audience targeting you can define the channel to which you would like to apply this workflow as well as what content of the message would be triggering this workflow. It could look like example below 👇

Screenshot+2024-05-15+at+07_37_08.png?expires=1719312300&signature=ad10f9c2c9945f7402c5945543245e5b95408e6d7b629fbc3834dbe45914f9f4&req=dSAiF8p3mYlWXvMW1HO4zcYo1r%2FZmZxO%2F5xFmw%3D%3D%0A

And then the workflow itself can be as simple as this 👇

💡 Note: you can't predict all possible content variations to include in the trigger section, so you might want to update this section from time to time with new keywords.

Hope this helps in the meantime 🙋‍♀️ I will let our Product Team know you’d like to add this to our roadmap and keep my fingers crossed for you 🤞

I’m stressing that the problem of identifying what IS NOT spam is not addressed here.  Important emails that get put into the Spam folder really kill us. If we have to check the Spam folder frequently to see that nothing is missed, it nullifies it’s usefulness.  I’d rather not have a spam folder than to have to check it. The above methods to tag and close spam are good.

Can the spam filter be put under our control (at least a hard white list and black list) or is there a way to turn off the spam filtering?
