Workflows are an excellent tool that we frequently use for our custom bot and back-office operations. I would like to suggest a few enhancements we find missing in our work and could improve them.

  1. Custom triggers - the ability to trigger a workflow based on different activities or attributes. for example, a change in a user data attribute , a back office ticket closed or reopened, or a teammate status change.
  1. Additional actions - one example is a code block, which would be very helpful for custom functions. Other examples are opening or closing a ticket, reopening a conversation, random split (for example, randomly assigning a conversation to several teammates and not teams), and setting people's data.
  1. Additional filters - some of the filters we searched for - customer has any open conversations/back office ticket, customer has contacted x times in the last x hours/days, “customer visits a page” filters to the customer visits a page trigger, is the conversation linked to a back-office/tracker ticket.
  1. Additional dynamic parameters - such as conversation ID and intercom's user ID.
  1. A link as a reply button.
  1. Loopback flow - the ability to go to a different flow and return to the same point in the original flow.
  1. Version management - the ability to restore older versions.

  2. Duplicating a workflow from the test environment - We usually test workflows first in our test environment, having the option to duplicate it to our regular workspace will be very efficient.
  1. The ability to publish a flow with "floating" not connected boxes.
  1. Pause/publish workflows from the workflows home page.

Great ideas here! 5 and 10 would be especially great.

I support that.

When it comes to workflows, also adding path for specific hours/events such as holidays, open hours, closed hours, outages. Having the ability to reference them in workflows and toggle them on/off as needed instead of having to update the workflow and revert changes each time .

Awesome ideas! I’d love to be able to pause them on the home page

Adding to the workflow home page point - the option to include a description of each workflow would be extremely helpful. Another option could be hovering over a workflow to preview its content without opening each one individually. With over 150 live workflows as we have, it can be challenging to keep track of all the details within each workflow.

  1. Custom triggers
  1. Additional filters

Great ideas! #1 and 3 is exactly the type of enhancement my team needs as well.

In our case, we need to keep certain conversations open whenever they’re linked to a Tracker ticket. Right now, there’s no Workflow trigger for “conversation linked to ticket,” and no native filter that can reliably check for a Tracker link.

If we had:

  • Custom trigger → “Conversation linked to ticket”

  • Filter → “Ticket category = Tracker

Then we could run a Data Connector or Workflow action to set our Keep Open attribute to true and maintain visibility until the ticket is resolved — all inside Intercom, no Zapier or custom webhooks needed.

Your request for custom triggers and additional filters aligns perfectly with this, and would unlock a lot of automation for ticket-linked conversation flows.

Thanks for raising!
