Is it possible to change your username in the community?

It seems that connecting my intercom account to the community here has locked in my username. I’d rather not have my full name on posts, but it doesn’t seem like there’s a way to change my username. Is there any way to change it?

For reference, I know that Gainsight (the community platform that the community is built on) has the option to use SSO and still let users choose their own usernames. Personally, I prefer that in communities than being forced to use whatever details are pulled across by the SSO.

Thanks!

Hi @Alex D.

That's part of our community FAQs! 😊 Thanks for your question. I've just made that change; if you need further adjustments, just let me know. 👍

Unfortunately, Gainsight doesn’t currently allow users to change their usernames, but I understand that this functionality is planned for the future.

For now, the only way to handle this is to reach out to us, and we can change it for you.

I hope you're enjoying the Intercom Community! Let’s keep in touch. 🤝

Yes, if I recall correctly, you can set your username when you first log in, but it’s then fixed and you need an admin if you’d like it changed. It’s been a year since I’ve been on the admin end of Gainsight, so it’s possible things have changed since then.

Thanks for the help!
