We were told that Intercom was accessible for screen readers, but in testing them, we are getting errors. In addition, the colors Intercom sets for hover states and some of the text do not have the appropriate color/contrast, and I don't know how to force those colors. there are only two colors I can change in the Intercom settings, but there are many more color combinations that need to be fixed. I tried by doing it in CSS, but the edits are not sticking. We are going live in a few days with a new site and this is throwing a wrench into everything. Help!!
Hey @colleen Racheal from the Support Engineer team here 👋🏼
I am so sorry to hear you're having a frustrating time. Our engineers have been notified of an issue with our Messenger not complying with WCAG 2.0 AA and are currently looking into it.
Currently, there isn't a way to control exactly what color appears when you hover but to be totally clear here, the Messenger should be complying with WCAG 2.0 AA standards and working effectively with screen readers.
Please feel free to write into the team here so we can get you added to the issue and notify you as soon as we have an update from the team on this!
Hello,
Any update on this? It’s been a year, and there are still colour contrast issues and more.
These are flagged in our Accessibility audit. As you may know the legislation on Accessibility are rapidly growing.
We really need your chatbot & help centre to be fully compliant to WCAG 2.1 at least, and from Oct we will need it to be accessible to WCAG 2.2, as the 1 year Grace period will be over.
Please treat this matter with more importance. It is supper important for your clients, but also the end users.
Please invest in making your products accessible to all.
Hi Tiphaine de Font-Réaulx, It’s Mat from the Support Engineering Team
I’ve created an Intercom conversation for you to submit a feature request and get an update of the state of introducing this accommodation.
Thank you for flagging this issue for us.
I’m having a similar issue where we can only set the action colour in the to #03CCBA but then the font on buttons defaults to white whereas we would like to be able to set it to a more accessible colour.
Is there some backend logic that chooses what colour the font will be on buttons based on the action colour?
Hi Justin M12,
It sure is but it can't be changed by the end user. I will add it as a Feature Request for you though.
