Losing the previous conversation history for my customers

When did Intercom disable the functionality for viewing past conversations for the end users?
It is a HUGE downgrade for us and for our customers. We depend on them being able to view the previous conversations.

Got it @Jennifer A ! You would need to enable JWT for your Messenger (replaces identity verification) for the longer conversation history to appear:

I should add that our website visitors do not have access to Intercom. Only our verified users (via login credentials) have access to Intercom in our product.

Hi @Jennifer A Could you clarify what you are referring to? User should be able to still see their past conversations in the Messenger.

My customers can see the last 14 days. That is not sufficient for our customers.

That is what I was told last week as well. That is the issue. Our customers have already logged into our system, and they’ve verified their identity. We do not want to add extra verification.

A heads up on losing the functionality would have been appreciated. It is a huge downgrade in service for our customers.

I understand the necessity for sites that allow anyone to access Intercom. We only allow access to our verified customers.

I see! Just a heads-up that I’m not working for Intercom/Fin, but without these security measures, there is a potential for spoofing the identity, which is why many software vendors try to gently push the customer towards implementing them. E.g. anyone can run a console command and log in as another user if they know their email address :(
