Help Center collections: is it possible to display the icon to the left of the title (instead of above)?

Hi Intercom team đź‘‹,

I’m currently setting up our Help Center and testing different layouts for the collections.

At the moment, in the Grid layout, the collection icon is always displayed above the collection title. I’d like to achieve a layout where the icon is positioned to the left of the title, similar to a horizontal “card” or list-style layout, while still keeping a clean, visual overview of collections.

I know it’s possible because I saw it on a help center made with Intercom. 

I’ve tested:

  • Grid, List, and Minimal layouts
  • Different icon formats and sizes (PNG, SVG, high resolution)
  • Various Help Center customization settings

However, I couldn’t find any option to:

  • change the icon position (top vs left)
  • control the structure of collection cards beyond the default layouts

My questions are:

  1. Is the icon position for Help Center collections fixed by design?
  2. Is there any way (native or planned) to display the icon to the left of the collection title?
  3. Are there any recommended alternatives or best practices to achieve a more horizontal card layout?

This type of layout would greatly improve readability and scanning speed, especially for Help Centers with many collections.

I have also reached out to Intercom Support about this, and/or the option to allow the Fin icon/badge to be manually moveable by the user (within a certain bounds in the bottom right). This would be a HUGE addition, as it currently can block content on your page :(
