We normally log in as the users to help them troubleshoot the issues, and once we do that, the in-app message (like posts, etc) sent to them pops up and we have to close it. This means the customer won’t see it again.

Also, the feature will be helpful for our users as well, as they might be in the middle of something but want to come back to the in-app message.

We see this with other in-app software. It seems like competitors of Intercom are doing it. It would be great to have this option for our users and would result in more in-app engagement and not force the user to read it at that moment

Hey @Ted Nguyen  - We recommend asking your dev team to prevent Intercom from booting whenever you and your teammates impersonate a real user on your site. This prevents inadvertently triggering outbound messages.

Hi @Paul D , we have done that in the past, but then it’s hard to test as the end user and see what they see. Especially when we set up different messenger experiences for them. What do you recommend here?

Our main use case is to give the PM choice and not make them read the message and distract them if they are working on something else at the moment the pop up arrives. Does intercom plan to add this “remind me later” or “snooze” functionality to outbound messages in the future?

@Eric A I hear you! We find that not booting Intercom when internal teammates impersonate is a better practice to prevent trigger messages and to prevent tampering with the end user session data. Your team can set up test end users when you want to see what outbound messages look like for real users. This keeps all that testing and real custom data separate.

I haven’t heard of an upcoming “remind me later” or “snooze”. But this submission will be logged so that the product team sees your interest in the feature. 👍
