It would be really useful to have either a breadcrumb of the Collection structure or some other form of tagging or content flag visible in the  search results when a user searches for articles within the Help Center.

We are using the Help Center to cover help across multiple products and are using the first level of collection to segregate articles to each product set. However if a user types in something generic like “How do I add users” they get search results that cover user management in any of the collections and thus can’t distinguish which article was intended for them. I understand that using audience rules should be able to help us if a user is searching via the Messenger but even so I still think this would be really helpful. I found other users have raised the same problem but couldn’t find where to upvote an existing idea.

We’ve investigated having multiple Help Centers so we could better segregate our articles but the fact you can only have one help Center linked to a messenger probably rules this out as a fix for us.

Here’s an example of unhelpful search results in our current implementation:

@Flora Muschamp it is possible to link a messenger to different help centres using different messenger brand styles and URL rules. Still, the idea is very valid.

Does this mean this feature is no longer being considered?

We have the exact same use case as Flora, the original poster. We have multiple products in one help center, with terminology that sometimes applies across two or more products. There is no way to tell which product the results apply to without clicking in. That’s a huge bummer.

I’d love to be able to display a collection, tag, or other field in the search results. Other tools have this capability.

If we had this capability, we could show things like product, persona, collection (i.e. location in information architecture) or other helpful contextual information relevant to our customers and our business so that customers using the on-site help center search can get the info they need quickly.

To add… I have trouble using Intercom’s own help center because I mostly care about Knowledge Hub and Help Center features. I get a lot of irrelevant search results because I cannot filter by those product areas and I cannot tell at a glance which articles do apply to those parts of the product.
