Hey @Ludwig Hedlund
Jacques here from Intercom Support. I hope all is well today!
you can use the Article import feature to get these Notion articles to Intercom! Here are the steps:
- Log into Notion and authenticate the integration with Intercom.
- Select the Collection and Folders you want to sync or import, and choose whether to sync or import the content.
- Start the sync/import process: A status banner and progress icon will appear in Intercom's Knowledge Hub. Once complete, a green tick will indicate success.
Here is our guide outlining this process:
Hi! Thanks for the support.
However, I manage to authenticate the integration, start the import, and then it processes for around 30 mintues, but then instead of succeeding it just goes back to nothing (not green tick indicating successs)… What should I do?
@Ludwig Hedlund Unfortunately your worst nightmare is true, you do unfortunately need to enter them one by one into the Articles in Intercom! I’m sorry to be the bearer of bad news
Although what @Jacques Reynolds shared is great advice if you just want to add your Notion content to the documentation that Fin and Copilot can use, it doesn’t work as expected -- at the moment the Notion integration only feeds the Internal Articles section and doesn’t allow you to import articles to the help center.
There’s an Idea in the Product Wishlist to be able to change an article from Internal to Public for this exact reason, someone found that they could at least import it from Notion then copy/paste it over from Internal Article to Public Article -- but they need to paste it over to a a newly created Public Article manually so the main benefit might just be formatting -- at least you don’t have to reformat every article? I don’t know how accurately it reproduces the article though you are probably going to need to check each one anyway.
It does seem a little pointless since the import feature already exists but only on the internal article side, if you could just make those public articles the whole process would be much smoother.
I just added Sync/Import Notion to Public Articles in the Help Center to the ideas section now, please vote it up and maybe this becomes more of a priority. There are probably quite a few people coming from Notion or HelpKit for example that allows you to create a help center on Notion -- but maybe people outgrow that and want the integrated Intercom help center and making that easy would be a valuable tool.
I know we’ve had this problem repeatedly with consulting clients we’ve been working with -- where we help create or revise 80+ articles and then have to add them individually from Notion to Intercom. Mainly because Intercom doesn’t have a great collaborative writing/editing experience in the help center which I believe is another feature request in the community already as well, if not, it should be!
Hi Nathan! Thanks for the reply, I have upvoted it! In the mean time, we will try to find the best way to do this on our end
Hi @Ludwig Hedlund
Unfortunately, there’s no direct way to migrate articles from Notion to Intercom.
However, if you can export your Notion content into CSV format, you can use that as a starting point to import articles into Intercom and build out your knowledge base.
To make the process easier and avoid manual copy-pasting, you might want to use a third-party tool. It supports article imports into Intercom and can help you map titles, content, and categories.
Just ensure the exported CSV contains the required fields (e.g., article title, category, folder, status, tags, attachments, and body), and if needed, you can request assistance or a custom setup for formatting and structure.
