The new Dynamic Content feature is excellent. However, I think it’s currently implementation overlooks something important.
Scenario:
- I have an inline piece of dynamic content for the year. The value is currently set to 2026.
- When the calendar shifts to 2027 I will edit this dynamic content to 2027.
- This automatically updates all articles with the reference on the customer side.
- It does not update the reference in the editor (the internal side).
This presents a risk in this scenario:
- A team member who is not familiar with the dynamic content feature goes to the editor and notices the year is wrong.
- The team member manually edits the year in the editor and saves it.
- This removes the article’s reference to the dynamic content.
- This creates a risk because when we update the year dynamic content in 2028, the article with the removed reference won’t be updated.
- Effectively, we will still need to audit every article with a year in it to ensure the dynamic content reference wasn’t mistakenly removed.
Unless I’m overlooking something, there is value in ensuring the reference in the editor and the public-facing article when dynamic content is updated and saved.
Thank you!
