Bots skewing article engagement

The last two weeks our help centre articles have increased in views by 500%...this is for our public articles that can be viewed by anyone. I have a feeling this is mostly from bots rather than real people. Does anyone have any solutions for how to block bots from being included in our article views and user metrics?

To reduce bot traffic from affecting your help center article views, here are a few strategies you can try:

Enable Bot Filtering: If Intercom provides bot filtering options, make sure it’s enabled. This setting may be available in your analytics or tracking options.

Use reCAPTCHA: Adding reCAPTCHA to your site can deter bots from accessing your articles, as it helps verify real human traffic.

Set Up IP Filtering: If you notice unusual traffic patterns from specific IP addresses, you may be able to block or filter out those IPs to prevent them from affecting your analytics.

Check Referral Sources: Identify any suspicious referral sources that might indicate bot traffic. Removing these sources or blocking specific domains might help.

Analyze User Behavior: Look for patterns in article views, like high volumes from single users or unusually short page durations, as bots often exhibit this behavior.

These steps can help keep bot data from skewing your metrics and provide a clearer view of genuine user engagement.
