For example we request logs from our members as a .log file. I've added this so that I can even view it but I need to download it to my device which there is not an option for. Just takes me to a web link.

This may be a browser setting as opposed to an Intercom setting. I've just tested with. a .log file and was able to download the file upon clicking. Could you check in your browser settings if you have an auto open setting? For Chrome that would be Settings > Advanced Settings > Downloads. If you have auto open you'll want to clear that setting and you should be good to go!
