There should be an easy way to merge users, leads, companies, etc. Sometimes duplicates happen and I should be able to easily merge them (think Hubspot or Apple contacts). This is a common feature in other apps. I know there is a workaround, but I shouldn’t have to put in all of that work to fix an error.

This is not existing functionality.

Currently, there is only an option to merge leads into users.

The desired outcome is to be able to merge duplicate users in to a single user.

Hey, any status on this ? We have been waiting for years for this. We have thousands of duplicated user as per our migration from V1 to V2 of our app and having to run both version in parallel

Hey @Jean-Charles you can follow this thread for more updates on that. We expect to have a new updated posted in there by the Product Team any time soon. 

We managed to add quite a few users to the merge beta via the community, which was then put on hold. The feature is in the process of becoming available in beta again following the feature improvements. Keep an eye on that thread for the most up-to-date news on that 👍

@Diana Tripac Thanks for the quick followup, my request is more related to merging users, not conversations. But if somehow this is a workaround to merge the conversation of user A (old user) on user B (new users) and then deleting user A. Then i’ll be more than happy to try this out.

We have been added to the beta, and after reviewing the feature it does not address this problem at all, nor is it a workaround. We honestly just need to keep all the conversations from user A and move it to user B + deleting user A so Intercom stops un-archiving old users.

@Ebenezer.Laleye This is a big one for our company too, the ability to merge users. This was such an easy thing to do in Salesforce so it’s definitely been frustrating to lose that ability since moving to Intercom.

This is a great suggestion! Merging users, leads, and companies seamlessly would save time and prevent errors caused by duplicates. Adding a built-in, straightforward merge feature like in HubSpot or Apple Contacts would make Intercom much more efficient for teams managing large data sets. It would also reduce the manual effort required with current workarounds, streamlining workflows for better productivity.


I need this feature. I have many duplicate users. And I have no way to easily merge them. (They're not leads, nor can I convert them back into leads to merge them.)


This would be a massive help.
Our customers access the Messenger via an in-app messenger as well as a portal, but each route generates a different user, resulting in hundreds of duplicates.

Being able to merge users would save a lot of time, ESPECIALLY if there was an admin function to merge users based on a shared value 9email address for example)
