I’m new to using Intercom and excited to explore its features. I’d love to hear from the community about some of the most effective ways you’ve used Intercom to engage with customers, especially when starting out.

I would suggest  start by familiarizing yourself with all of Intercom's functionalities. 
Create visuals, such as drawings or diagrams, to illustrate how Intercom can interact with visitors or leads during various touchpoints on their journey. 
Basically it will help various stakeholders in your company understand and appreciate the value Intercom brings, beyond just initial expectations. 
Also, consider drafting detailed documentation using Google Docs for flow designs of bots and series
