I checked your site, it looks like the security settings of the intercom messenger are incorrect.
Here's the guide on how to fix it:
1. Go to Messenger Settings -> Keep your Messenger secure
2. Clear the "List your trusted domains" field
3. Click the "Save and set live" button:
Then Access your website (http://vela-apparel-shop.myshopify.com/ and check the Intercom Messenger.

Hey thank you so much for your help! So that solved it but just for future: the instructions had me put a '.' before my domain and then an asterisk. This and your suggestions 'http://vela-apparel-shop.myshopify.com/' did not work. What did work was just simply putting 'vela-apparel-shop.myshopify.com'. When I move my actual domain over and go live, do I need to add all three variations (with https, http, and without either)? Thanks again!
Unfortunately, even though my chat is working and I've tested it a few times, I'm still seeing this error that no data is being received

If you want to secure your messenger, you should put there your domain-like:
domain.com; domain.de (Without HTTPS or HTTP).
