How do you do, fellow Intercom users?

How do you do, fellow Intercom users?

I'm the Support Knowledge Manager at Lessonly by Seismic. For ten years I was an academic librarian at a small liberal arts college in San Antonio, Texas. As of July 2022, I took my talents to the exciting world of SaaS sales enablement. Intercom is user-friendly OoTB, so I'm here to make the transition from user to power user, and to advocate for the features I'd most like to see added to the platform.

Hi Michael! I think you have a dream job, I always have been curious about knowledge management. Do you have any tips or material for some of us interested in building a personal knowledge system?

Hi Victoria! It depends to some extent on the kind of knowledge you're hoping to organize. If you're looking for an all-purpose solution, an app to organize, say, recipes and the books you're reading and your travel itineraries, look for a workspace tool that's flexible and full-featured enough to give you different ways of capturing and organizing your personal information. I'm a big fan of Notion for such purposes. It helps that Notion is both powerful and a pleasure to use, meaning you'll want to spend time in the app.

You might also page through a few longform guides to PIM. I haven't read Keeping Found Things Found, but a colleague of mine read it a few years ago and got a lot out of it.

Thank you for the fast reply. I also like Notion, it has powerful databases. I'm testing Logseq now for the personal knowledge base. I'm building a kind of Zettelkasten. Early to say of results, but I enjoy the process.)

I don't know Logseq; thanks for the tip! As for Zettelkasten, I was using The Archive in my last job. I'm not sure I ever used it _quite_ as intended, but it's very handy for note-taking, especially when writing long-form content.
