Hi guys,

As far as I know, currently there is no option for sending Whatsapp templates via REST API (correct me if I’m wrong). Whatsapp don’t allow sending messages via their API directly if the number is already connected to your system. That leave us without options in order to have only 1 single point of contact number for receiving user’s questions and being able to automate templates for our users. Other competitors (like Messagebird) already allow to send whatsapp templates via their API.

So the question is, is there any plan to allow this in your API? Is there any ETA? This feature is quite important and if there is no plan to implement it would make customers contemplate switching providers.

Thanks in advance.

It looks like you aren’t alone in wanting this, if you look here

It looks like this request already has some interest!

I’m also wondering if Custom Actions could be used to send to the Whatsapp API with a template like this or not based on a workflow?  I don’t know if that would be a workaround that could work or not it would be better for Intercom to support these templates directly.

Hi! Thanks for the info.

The thing is that you can’t use the Whatsapp API with the same number that is already connected to Intercom. Intercom is the only one that can send the templates in your behalf (as far as I know). So I guess what you are propossing regarding Custom Actions is not possible…

I upvoted the requests that you just linked. Is there any way somebody in Intercom can give us some estimates or at least confirm that this is in the roadmap?

Thanks!
