Just wondering what makes an answer be the “best answer” is it likes, picked by the person asking the question or something else

While many answers can be valuable, only one can be marked as the "best answer." A forum question is considered answered when an answer is marked as best.

Here is an example.

Who marks the best answer?
The question creator or the Intercom Forum Support team can mark the best answer.

The fastest way to earn points and climb up the ranks is through the best answers. However, any community activity contributes to your points. We also explore ways to award extra points for community engagement.

To increase your chances of being marked as best, consider answering unanswered questions  (questions with no replies) first.
 

  • To see how many points you’ve earned, visit this Leaderboard page.
     
  • To check how many best answers you have, visit your profile. You’ll find them listed under the title “Solved.”
