Is there a way to trigger a custom bot to launch when our users click a specific button on our website (rather than triggering the bot when someone lands on that page)?

Yes! We use these to send users bots with apps to gather feedback, show our roadmap and add users to betas. I actually wrote up a blog on setting up a button-triggered bot to send Intercom apps (with a little button to demo):

YES!! I am so excited to hear that. I'll take a look at the blog and let you know if I have any questions. Thank you @user649

Follow up question @user649 . Is there a way to do this without actually using a third party app like Userfeed? I have two front end engineers who can work with me on this so it's not the button I need to be able to create, instead, it's the ability to take an existing button from our website and have it trigger the custom bot. For reference... I'm thinking of something like the Product Tours, which you can trigger from a certain URL. But instead of triggering a Tour, I want to trigger the messenger to open to the Custom Bot.

Sorry this might be already covered but have you triggered the custombot from a button and linked to the element in your app?

I have used variations of this in our platform, and have found the CTA (button) triggers the custom bot flow.

@craig I'm not sure I understand your question. My question is whether I can trigger the Custom Bot from a button linked to an element in our app.

Can you explain to me how you have done this in the past?

For example, we can trigger a Product Tour using a URL that points to that Product Tour. However, Custom Bots have no URL provided that points to launching them.

Update! There is a way to trigger the Custom Bot from a button click. But you won't find it in the Outbound tab. It's in the Operator tab.

Looks like you guys got there in the end.

Bots from buttons are accessible in the operator tab - not in outbound as they don't proactively reach out (they're more reactionary - so thats why they're not in outbound)

Hope that helps
