We’re having issues related to collapsible sections in our help articles.

  • Links to the heading of the collapsible section aren’t going to that heading
  • H2 headings of collapsible sections aren’t appearing in the TOC at the right of the article.

What can we do to fix these issues?

Hey there @Pat Thomas! Emily here from Support Engineering 👋🏼

It appears that headers added to a Collapsible Section title cannot be ingested in the Table of Contents and will not render a unique URL definition to refer to. For a header to appear in the Table of Contents or be linked with anchors correctly, your content will need to be added outside the Collapsible section title.

To enable a table of contents to appear on articles, you should go to Settings > Help Center, click the Configure tab, navigate to the Article page tab, and toggle it on. The table of contents will be automatically generated from all H1 or H2 headings in an article.

Therefore, to fix the issues with collapsible sections not linking correctly and not appearing in the TOC, you should ensure that the H2 headings are not part of the collapsible section titles but are instead placed outside of these sections. This will allow them to be recognized by the system and included in the TOC as well as enable proper anchor linking.

Hopefully this helps! Feel free to open up a ticket with our support team if you’re still experiencing issues 😁
