Banners is so useful and simple, it allows us to share news and collect feedback from our users in an elegant way, without distracting them. And...users seem to like it too, the engagement rate is higher than other channels!

Banners is an amazing product. I was a BETA tester and that one feature has probably generated 6 figures in revenue last year.

Banners is a truly non-invasive but powerful pattern interrupt. When you combine that with the targeting features of Intercom you have a notification system that allows you too hyper target users.

While we had several different uses our primary use was to trigger a notification banner when a user was an ideal lead. A banner would come up requesting a phone call and the user would use that to book a call with us. It made sure that only people who were capable of purchasing our product would receive the banner so that our sales team always had very warm leads.

It's a great product and so glad that they launched it!

Hey Blake, Beth here from the Intercom content team 👋

Delighted to hear that you're seeing such success using Banners – what an amazing result! Would you be open to us sharing this as a testimonial in our marketing materials?

We've used banners to convey important information to customer like database maintenance and product updates. It's given us an easy and effective way to alert customers that regular messages do not.

This feature was our biggest want for the longest time to add to our Messenger bag of tricks.

Immediate use cases;

  • Outages and important service status warnings (scary red banners)
  • Overdue or Late payments with option to get help
  • Pulse check on sentiment (what do you think of us, how do you feel us) with Emojis
  • Prompts for service reviews and feedback
  • Good news service updates such as 24/7 chat

We are finding it is a great way to provide a less in your face engagement and wraps around the other message types we use (badges, snippets, small posts etc).

Next steps;

  • Using banners in series to push product tours for feature adoption
  • Upgrade CTAs to drive self-service product upgrades

Overall it rounds out the messenger feature set, all be it there are still a few other types we would like.

Love this idea but the price tag is way too high for our teams needs, I often get disappointed when new features like this are released and promoted without mentioning it's an addon or an upgrade -- because I get excited but then have sticker shock when I find out it's behind a paywall :(
